Mountain Home Education Foundation Board
The Mountain Home Education Foundation, Incorporated is a non-profit corporation founded in 2001 for the purpose of assisting and supporting the Mountain Home Public Schools. One of the principal purposes of the Corporation shall be the fostering of educational opportunities for the youth of the Mountain Home Public School system. Therefore, the Foundation will receive and administer funds for educational, scientific, artistic and charitable purposes and to foster activities in the curriculum as well as in extracurricular interests. Anyone interested in making a contribution to the Corporation may contact the Superintendent of Schools.
Bob Knight, President Bob lives in Mountain Home and it is a graduate of Mountain Home High School and attended Wichita Business College. He is a partner and General Manager of Mountain Lakes Broadcasting. Bob is married to the former Sue Hightower, a MHHS graduate, and has one daughter, Heather, a graduate of Mountain Home High School and the University of Central Arkansas. He is past president of the Arkansas Broadcasters Association and currently serves as President of the Broadcasters of Arkansas Political Action Committee. He is Chairman of the Twin Lakes Economic Development Commission and serves on the Baxter Regional Hospital Development Board the ASU Mountain Home Advisory Board and the board of CARTI Mountain Home. |
Carol Miller Gresham Carol Gresham is a 1972 graduate of Mountain Home High School. She and her family moved to the area when she was in third grade. Carol received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Ouachita Baptist University in 1976. During the next seven years she lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she began a career in commercial real estate. In 1984, Carol moved to Little Rock and developed a market research firm and relocation business. Since 1996, she and her husband Rip have enjoyed spending as much time as possible at their cabin by the White River. They relocated here permanently in 2001. She earned her MBA degree in 2006. Currently, Carol is Vice-Chancellor for Development at ASUMH. She also serves on the state AATYC board, is a member of Mtn. Home Rotary, WOW Investment Club, PEO, a licensed Arkansas real estate broker and involved in music activities as a member of First Baptist Church. |
Ron Lechtenberger Ron Lechtenberger is a 1970 graduate of MHHS. He has a BSBA degree in Business from the University of Arkansas with a major in Accounting. Ron is a CPA and practiced in Tulsa, OK and Mountain Home until 1999. He was an investment broker with A. G. Edwards until 2004. He is currently an executive host for Cherokee Nation Entertainment in West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma. Ron is married to Joyce, and has two children, Jennifer and Cole, both graduates of MHHS. He is chairman of the Mountain Home Bomber Booster Foundation and treasurer of the Mountain Home Education Foundation. |
Robert Nelson Robert Nelson is a native of Mountain Home and graduated from MHHS in the class of 1960. He married Ann Joyce (class of 1963) and they have two daughters, Laura (class of 1982) and Marcy (class of 1990), and six grandchildren. Ann and Robert are members of First Baptist church. Robert received his BA degree from Arkansas Tech and his MEd from the University of Arkansas. He spent three years teaching at Searcy Junior High before coming home to Mountain Home as High School band director. He held that position for thirty-five years and retired from teaching in 2002. During his tenure at Mountain Home, he was named “Teacher of the Year” in 1975 and in 1979, and as the Arkansas “Bandmaster of the Year” in 1994. He served as president of the Arkansas School Band & Orchestra Association, the Arkansas Bandmasters’ Association, and the Arkansas chapter of Phi Beta Mu, National Band Fraternity. He is a past president of the Baxter County Retired Teachers’ Association and as a board member of the Mountain Home Education Foundation. He was elected to the Mountain Home school board in September of 2006 |
Linda Beaman Pitts Linda Pitts is a 1971 Honor graduate from Mountain Home High School. She has a BS degree in Business from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She currently serves as president of the Mountain Home School Board of Education. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Gary Pitts. After being away from the Mountain Home area for over 20 years, the Pitts family moved back to Mountain Home in 1994. They wanted their two children to experience the same quality of education they had received in the Mountain Home School District. Their oldest son, Nick will graduate in 2003 from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where he plays for the Razorback Baseball team. He will have degrees in Finance and Marketing. Their youngest son, Ryan will graduate from Mountain Home in 2008. Linda spent many years working in manufacturing for Tenneco, ITT Outdoor Lighting and Hunter Fan. She was the Account Services Manager for Levi Strauss and Company and then worked with her husband in a business he developed, Mr. Tidy Carwashes, Inc. She is the daughter of Warren and Marilyn Beaman of Lakeview and the daughter-in-law of Dessie and the late Carl Pitts of Mountain Home. |
Ted Sanders Ted lives in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He graduated from Marshall High School, Marshall, Arkansas, and received his BSBA and JD from the University of Arkansas. He has practiced law in Mountain Home for over 30 years. He has served as a Special Chief Justice and Special Justice for the Arkansas Supreme Court. He is currently a member of the Arkansas Bar Association’s House of Delegates and the Baxter County Bar Association. He serves on the Board of Directors of First National Bank & Trust Co. of Mountain Home, is a past member of the Advisory Board of Arkansas State University–Mountain Home, and past member of the Mountain Home School Board. He and his wife, Nancy, have three children who are graduates of Mountain Home High School. |
Dr. Charles Scriber Dr. Charles Scriber is Superintendent of Schools for the Mountain Home School District. Dr. Scriber received his bachelor of science degree from Louisiana Tech University in 1970. He received his master of science degree in science education and administration from Louisiana Tech in 1976. He has more than 30 hours in administration and technology from Louisiana Tech and the University of Louisiana in Monroe and in 1993 received his doctorate in educational administration and supervision form the University of Southern Mississippi. From 1998-2003, he was principal at Ruston High School. He was principal at Simsboro High School from 1997-98 and was supervisor of secondary education in the Lincoln Parish Schools from 1992-97, He was also principal of Ruston Junior High from 1987-92, and principal of Ruston Elementary from 1985-87.He has also been a counselor/assistant principal, and has taught math and chemistry at the high school and junior high school levels. He is a member of the Louisiana Association of School Executives, Louisiana Association of School Superintendents, Louisiana School Board Association, National School Board Association and is a past member of Phi Delta Kappa. |
Julie Wright Julie Wright is an Arkansas native whose family goes back more than six generations in the Arkansas Ozarks. Julie attended Mountain Home Public Schools from 1st through 12th grade and is a graduate of MHHS and the University of Arkansas. After college, she enjoyed an interesting business and professional career working in the fields of Speech Pathology & Audiology, Music, Writing, Restaurant Management, Real Estate and Commercial Investments while living in the states of Missouri, Colorado, Illinois, and California. In 1993, the 1964 MHHS graduate moved back to Mountain Home to enjoy the peace and beauty that is the Twin Lakes area. She lives in a home overlooking the White River and spends as much time as possible with friends and family on Lake Norfork! In addition to serving the past seven years as a member of the Mountain Home Education Foundation Board, Julie has served for the last four years as a Mentor at MHHS. She has been a member of the North Arkansas Board of Realtors and the Arkansas State Realtor Association. Julie has been a dedicated supporter of the development of ASU/MH and is a proud member of their Legacy Society Wall of Honor. She is a Trustee of the Baxter Country Library Foundation Board and has recently been very involved in their four year long project of gaining the grant for, and then (in 2010), seeing the actual construction of our new County Library facility become a reality. |
Sonia Litty Sonia (Treat) Litty is a 1987 graduate of MHHS and a native of Mountain Home. She attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and is a graduate of the Arkansas Bankers Association Trust School at Harding University and the Southern Trust School at Mobile, Alabama. Sonia is currently employed as Vice President and Trust Officer of First National Bank & Trust. Her banking career and trust and estate planning expertise awarded her with an invitation to teach at the Arkansas Bankers Association Trust School held in Little Rock. Sonia also serves as member of the BRMC Professional Advisory Committee and a member of the Chamber of Commerce/Red White & Blue Festival Committee. Sonia has two boys: Bo Litty, 2003 graduate of MHHS and Nathan Litty, 2007 graduate of MHHS. Her sister, Shelli (Treat) Jones, a 1985 graduate of MHHS, is a teacher at the MHJH. |
Connie Barnett Connie Barnett, 1971 graduate of Mountain Home High School. Attended Arkansas State University at Jonesboro, AR. Had a 34-year banking career working in management positions through four bank transitions. Concluded her bank employment as Business Development Officer at First National Bank & Trust in Mountain Home, AR. Connie attended the Mountain Home Leadership Institute and was a former member of the Mountain Home Lion’s Club. She served on the Baxter Regional Medical Center Board of Directors for nine years. She is a member of the Baxter Regional Hospital Auxiliary and is active in the Partners in Education. Connie is a member of First Baptist Church in Mountain Home, She is married to Roger Barnett, who is also a graduate of Mountain Home High School. The couple have two children, Sara Ivory and Brian Barnett and two grandchildren. |
